Amenemhat was the son of Thutmose III, who was a pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty of ancient Egypt. He was the eldest son of Thutmose III and served as his father's coregent and successor. Amenemhat was also referred to as Amenemhat A and was known for his military skills and administrative abilities.
During his time as coregent, Amenemhat served as a commander of the army and campaigned in Nubia, Syria, and the Levant. In addition to his military activities, Amenemhat was also involved in the administration of Egypt. He held several important positions, including that of vizier, treasurer, and high priest of Amun.
After Thutmose III's death, Amenemhat assumed the throne as Amenhotep II. He continued his father's military campaigns and expanded the Egyptian empire into Asia, Nubia, and the Aegean. He also oversaw the construction of several buildings and monuments, including the temple of Amun at Karnak.
Amenemhat ruled Egypt for approximately 26 years, from 1427 BC to 1401 BC. He was succeeded by his son, Thutmose IV. Amenemhat's reign is considered a period of stability and prosperity in ancient Egypt, and his military achievements and administrative skills contributed to this.
